How Do Referrers Send e-Referrals and Receive Results from Qscan?
Updated
Qscan accepts e-Referrals through Medical Objects and HealthLink, and sends results back to referrers via InteleConnect and InteleViewer. If you are a referring GP or specialist, you can use either e-referral platform to send a referral electronically, and you will receive the report and images electronically after the examination. Qscan also provides referrer support covering report delivery, patient care, and IT setup if you need help getting connected.
Sending an e-Referral to Qscan
Qscan offers e-Referrals through two secure messaging platforms:
- Medical Objects — a common e-referral and results-delivery channel used across Australian general practice.
- HealthLink — an alternative secure messaging network that also supports electronic referral delivery.
The practical steps are:
- Create the referral in your practice software as you normally would, selecting the appropriate imaging service (for example X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, or PET-CT).
- Send it via Medical Objects or HealthLink rather than printing or faxing it. Qscan describes this route as easy, fast, and secure.
- Confirm the referral has been transmitted through your messaging platform's usual sent-items or delivery confirmation view.
Expected result: Qscan receives the referral electronically, and the patient can proceed with booking the examination.
If you are not yet set up for e-Referrals
Because Qscan routes e-Referrals through Medical Objects and HealthLink, your practice needs an active account with at least one of these platforms. If you are unsure whether your practice is connected, Qscan's referrer support team handles IT setup and can assist with getting the connection in place.
Receiving Results from Qscan
After the examination, Qscan sends the report and images electronically to the referrer. Results are delivered through:
- InteleConnect — a web-based referrer results portal.
- InteleViewer — a clinical viewing application for reviewing images and reports.
Expected result: the referring doctor receives the diagnostic report and associated images without waiting for a physical copy.
Accessing results
- If you already use InteleConnect or InteleViewer, results should appear in your existing worklist once the report is finalised.
- If you do not yet have access, contact Qscan referrer support — they assist with report delivery and IT setup, which is the step that establishes your access to these systems.
Referrer Support: What Qscan Covers
Qscan states it provides "premium referrer support" across three areas:
| Support area | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Report delivery | Getting reports and images to the referrer through InteleConnect and InteleViewer |
| Patient care | Assistance relating to the patient's journey through the clinic |
| IT setup | Helping referrers establish the technical connections needed for e-Referrals and results |
This matters most in two situations: when you are newly connecting to Qscan and need the IT setup done, and when a result has not arrived as expected and you need the delivery path checked.
Key Contact Points
Qscan lists separate phone numbers by region and modality. For referrer-related enquiries, the main state contact numbers are:

Common Points to Check
- Referral not received by the clinic: confirm it was sent through Medical Objects or HealthLink rather than by another method, and check your platform's delivery status.
- Results not appearing: verify your InteleConnect or InteleViewer access is active; if it is not, this is an IT setup issue for referrer support.
- Wrong clinic or region: Qscan operates over 40 locations across Australia, so confirm the referral is directed to the correct clinic for the patient's location.
