How Often Are Player Counts Updated on GameServe.rs?

Updated

Player counts on GameServe.rs refresh every 20 seconds. That applies to every server list on the site, across all supported titles and clients. If you are deciding whether a lobby is worth joining, the number you see is at most 20 seconds old — but it is not a guarantee that the count is accurate at the exact moment you click, since the site depends on each client's own server reporting.

What "every 20 seconds" actually means

GameServe.rs aggregates live server lists for modded Call of Duty clients and repolls the available player counts on a 20-second cycle. In practice:

  • The figure shown for a server is the last reported count, refreshed on that cycle.
  • A server can still change between refreshes — players leave, matches end, or a lobby fills up.
  • If a client stops reporting, its servers may show stale or zero counts until the next successful poll.

So the 20-second interval is a freshness window, not a real-time feed.

What the site covers

The refresh applies across the full catalogue, which spans Call of Duty (2003) through Call of Duty: WWII.

By client:

Client Titles covered
Plutonium 7 titles (incl. World at War, Black Ops, Black Ops II, Modern Warfare 3)
IW4x 1 title (Modern Warfare 2)
AlterWare 3 titles (Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, Black Ops III)
Aurora 2 titles (Modern Warfare Remastered, Infinite Warfare)
HorizonMW 1 title (MW2 Campaign Remastered multiplayer)
CoD4x 1 title (Call of Duty 4)
S2x 1 title (Call of Duty: WWII)

The original CoD1, CoD2 and United Offensive servers are listed via cod.pm rather than a modded client.

By game: the site splits lists the way the community does — by the client that keeps each title online — and also offers per-title pages, including separate entries for zombie modes (WaW Zombies, BO1 Zombies, BO2 Zombies).

Why the 20-second cycle matters when you pick a server

A short refresh interval is useful for one specific task: finding a server that actually has people in it, rather than an empty one. Because counts update every 20 seconds, you can:

  1. Sort the list by player count to push populated servers to the top.
  2. Filter by game or client to narrow to the title you own.
  3. Optionally hide trickshot servers if you want standard matches.
  4. Re-check after a refresh if a count looks borderline.

The limit is that a 20-second-old count can still mislead you at the margins — a server showing 1–2 players may empty out before you connect.

Joining after you pick

Each row shows the server address as a console command. Click it to copy connect <address>, open the in-game console (usually the tilde key), and paste it. On clients with a built-in browser, you can instead search for the server name once the client is running.

Quick answers

Does the 20-second refresh cover every game on the site? Yes — it applies to the available player counts across the listed titles and clients.

Is the count real-time? No. It is refreshed every 20 seconds, so treat it as recent, not instantaneous.

Which client do I need? It depends on the title — see the client table above, and each game page links to its client or community.
