How to Book or Modify a Qscan Appointment

Updated

Qscan offers online booking and online modification of existing appointments, so most patients can arrange or change a scan without calling. The main conditions to plan around: you generally need a referral for imaging, and some services are only offered at certain clinics, so confirm the location before you book. If your booking is urgent, complex, or you can't find a suitable online slot, contact the clinic directly.

Booking online

  1. Go to the Qscan website (qscan.com.au) and choose the Book Online option.
  2. Enter your location to find a clinic near you. Qscan has over 40 locations across Australia, so you may need to widen your search if the closest clinic doesn't offer your scan.
  3. Select the service you need. Qscan's services include X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, PET-CT, nuclear medicine, mammography, BMD/DEXA, dental imaging, interventional radiology, EOS spinal and body imaging, and theranostics.
  4. Choose an available appointment time and complete your details.
  5. Check whether you need to bring a referral. Qscan accepts e-Referrals via Medical Objects and HealthLink, so your referrer can send the referral electronically rather than you carrying paper.

Expected result: you receive a confirmed appointment at the selected clinic and time.

Modifying an existing appointment

Qscan provides a Modify Booking option alongside online booking. Use it if you need to change the time, date, or clinic for an appointment you've already made.

If the change involves a different service or a clinic that doesn't offer that service, the online tool may not cover it — call the clinic instead.

When to contact a clinic directly

Call the relevant clinic rather than booking online if:

  • Your scan is urgent or your referrer has marked it as a priority.
  • You're unsure which service you need.
  • You need to change to a service not offered at your original clinic.
  • You have questions about preparation, contrast, or what to bring.

For referrers

If you're a referring doctor rather than a patient, Qscan provides referrer support covering report delivery, patient care, and IT setup, with results available through InteleConnect and InteleViewer. Referrals can be sent as e-Referrals via Medical Objects or HealthLink.

Common sticking points

  • No referral: most imaging requires one. Arrange this with your GP or specialist before booking.
  • Service not available at your nearest clinic: check the specific clinic's service list, since not every location offers every modality.
  • After your scan: your report and images are sent electronically, so confirm with the clinic how your referrer will receive them if you're unsure.
