How to Join a Server from the GameServe.rs Server List
Updated
GameServe.rs lists live servers for modded Call of Duty clients, and every row shows the server address as a ready-to-use console command. Click that address to copy a connect <address> command, then paste it into the in-game console (usually opened with the tilde key) while the matching client is running. If your client has a built-in server browser, you can instead search for the server name directly. This works for the clients GameServe.rs covers — Plutonium, IW4x, AlterWare, Aurora, HorizonMW, CoD4x, and S2x — but you need the correct client installed for your game first.
Before you start
- The right client for your game. GameServe.rs groups titles by the client that keeps them online, so the server list you're browsing has to match a client you actually have installed. For example, Modern Warfare 2 (2009) servers are IW4x, while World at War, Black Ops, Black Ops II, and Modern Warfare 3 are Plutonium.
- The client running. The console command only works once the client is open and you're at a point where the console is accessible.
- A server row from the list. Player counts refresh every 20 seconds, so pick a row with people in it rather than an empty one.
Steps to join
- Find your game's list. On GameServe.rs, open the title you want. Titles are split both by game and by client, so you can browse either way.
- Pick a server with players. The list shows player counts, names, maps, and modes, and you can sort by players. You can also filter and hide trickshot servers if you don't want them.
- Click the server address. Each row shows the address as a console command. Clicking it copies
connect <address>to your clipboard. - Open the in-game console. In most of these clients this is the tilde key (
~). - Paste and run the command. Paste the copied
connect <address>line into the console and press enter. The client should start connecting to that server.
Expected result: you land in the server you picked, with the player count you saw when you copied the address.
If your client has a built-in browser
Some clients include their own server browser. In that case you don't need the console command at all — run the client, open its browser, and search for the server name you saw on GameServe.rs. This is the simpler path when it's available, since it avoids copying addresses by hand.
Common snags
- Nothing happens when you paste. The console command only works inside the correct client. If you're in the wrong client for that game, the address won't connect.
- The server is full or empty by the time you join. Counts refresh every 20 seconds, so a busy server can fill up between the moment you copy the address and the moment you connect.
- You can't find the console. The tilde key is the usual default, but if it doesn't open, check the client's own key bind or settings.
- You don't have the client yet. Each game page on GameServe.rs links to the client or its community, so start there if a title's client isn't installed.
