How to Share or Export MiniMessage Text from MiniMessage Viewer
Updated
To share or reuse text you build in MiniMessage Viewer (Adventure WebUI), use the buttons at the top of the screen: Share short link or Share full link to send someone a URL, Export to JSON to get a JSON representation you can paste into a plugin or mod, or Try in-game to copy a Minecraft server IP that gives you an in-game preview. Short links expire after 6 months, so keep the full link if you need long-term access.
Before you start
- You have text in the input box in the middle of the screen. The output preview appears below it.
- You have selected the preview format you care about (chat, lore, hologram, or server list) using the buttons at the top, so what you share matches what you tested.
- If you plan to share a link, decide up front whether you need it to last longer than 6 months.
Share a link
- Click Share short link or Share full link in the top bar.
- Copy the generated URL.
- Send it to whoever needs to see or continue editing the text.
Expected result: the recipient opens the link and sees your MiniMessage input and its preview.
Key catch: short links expire after 6 months. If the text is documentation, a template, or anything you'll come back to, use the full link or save the MiniMessage string itself somewhere durable.
Export to JSON
- Click Export to JSON at the top of the screen.
- Copy the generated JSON.
- Paste it into your plugin or mod where the JSON representation is accepted.
Expected result: you get a JSON version of your MiniMessage text that you can move into your project without retyping formatting.
Use this when your workflow consumes JSON rather than a MiniMessage string. If your plugin expects a MiniMessage string instead, copy the input text directly rather than the JSON export.
Preview in-game
- Click Try in-game at the top of the screen.
- The button copies a Minecraft server IP to your clipboard.
- Add that IP to your server list in Minecraft and join to see the text rendered in-game.
Expected result: you see your formatting as players would, which catches differences the browser preview may not show.
Note that the page identifies itself as not official Minecraft software, so treat the in-game preview as a testing aid rather than a production server.
Choosing between the three
| Goal | Use | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Send text to a collaborator | Share short or full link | Short links expire after 6 months |
| Move text into a plugin or mod | Export to JSON | Confirm your plugin accepts JSON, not just the MiniMessage string |
| Check how it looks to players | Try in-game | Requires adding the copied IP to your server list |
Common snags
- Link stopped working: the short link hit its 6-month expiry. Recreate it or use the full link next time.
- "Your connection with the server has been lost, please reload the page": reload the page and re-enter or re-open your text before exporting.
- JSON doesn't work in your plugin: check whether the plugin expects a MiniMessage string or a JSON component; the export only helps in the latter case.
- In-game preview looks different from the browser: that's the point of the in-game check — adjust formatting until both match.
