What Community and Server Information Is Shown on Lost Wishes MUD?
Updated
Lost Wishes MUD's home page is also its status dashboard. It shows a live snapshot of who is playing, where they are from, how long the server has been running, and when the next reboot is due — plus links into the community side of the game (clans, gods, toplists, and a "Who is On?" page). If you want to judge how active the game is before investing time in it, that status block is the first thing to read.
The status block at a glance
The home page presents a compact set of figures under a "Status" heading:
| Signal | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Online | Number of players currently connected |
| Population | Total registered player count |
| Uptime | How long the server has run since its last restart |
| Reboot | Countdown to the next scheduled reboot |
| Countries | A percentage breakdown of where players connect from |
| Areas | Total number of explorable areas |
| Quests | Total number of quests in the game |
In the snapshot captured from the site, the numbers read: Population 8708, Online 7, Areas 313, Quests 163, Uptime 4d 3h, and Reboot 3d 5h 11m. The country breakdown showed four segments at 11%, 33%, 11%, and 22%.
Two things are worth reading carefully here. First, "Online" is a live count, so it will differ every time you load the page — a low number at one moment doesn't tell you the peak. Second, "Population" is a cumulative registered figure, not concurrent players, so 8708 and 7 measure different things and shouldn't be compared directly.
Uptime and reboot countdown
Uptime and Reboot work as a pair. Uptime tells you how long the current server session has been running; Reboot tells you how long until the next scheduled restart. In the captured snapshot, uptime was 4 days 3 hours and the reboot was 3 days 5 hours 11 minutes away — roughly a weekly cycle.
This matters for planning a session. If you're about to start a long quest or a group activity, checking the reboot timer first tells you whether the server is likely to restart mid-session. A short reboot countdown is a signal to wrap up rather than begin something lengthy.
Community features linked from the home page
Beyond the raw numbers, the home page navigation exposes the social and meta side of the game:
- Who is On? — a page for seeing which players are currently connected, useful for finding company or checking whether friends are online.
- Clans — player-run groups, separate from the guild system.
- Gods — the game's administrative or immortal staff.
- Toplists — rankings, typically of players or guilds.
- Newbie Help — entry-point support for new players.
- Guilds — the character class-like organizations (Dragonspawn, Mages, Werewolves, Bandits, Clerics, Acolytes, Gladiators, Golems, Wayfarer, Blackdragon, Gargoyles, Necromancers, and Elementals).
- Races, Areas, Quests, and Help Files — reference pages for the game world itself.
The site also notes a "Today's Area of the Day," which in the captured snapshot was the Enchanted Forest — a rotating spotlight that gives players a reason to visit a specific area.
Reading the numbers sensibly
A few cautions when interpreting the dashboard:
- Online counts fluctuate. Seven players at the moment of capture is a point-in-time figure. Check it at different hours before concluding the game is quiet or busy.
- Country percentages are shares, not counts. The four segments shown (11%, 33%, 11%, 22%) describe the distribution of players across countries, not how many players each country has.
- Areas and Quests are content totals. 313 areas and 163 quests describe the size of the world, not activity levels.
- Uptime and Reboot describe the server, not the community. They tell you about stability and scheduling, not how many people are around.
What the page does not tell you
The home page shows status and community links, but it doesn't state pricing, account requirements, or whether any features are restricted. The site does include a "Donations" link in its navigation, which indicates voluntary support is part of how the game is run, but the page itself gives no details on cost or access conditions. If those matter to you, check the Help Files or ask in-game rather than assuming.
For a quick decision: if you want to know whether Lost Wishes is active right now, look at Online and Who is On?. If you want to know how big and stable it is, look at Population, Areas, Quests, Uptime, and Reboot. If you want to know whether you'll find a group, the Clans and Who is On? pages are the ones to open.
