What features do ThreeDee's 3D models support?

Updated

ThreeDee's 3D models support ARKit facial expressions and Lipsync, modular combination systems, and customization through included Blender generators and tutorials. The library spans character packs, avatars, hands, mascots, and game-ready assets — all designed for animation, game development, and design projects. If you need ARKit or Lipsync support in a specific pack, ThreeDee lets you request it directly.

Facial animation and Lipsync

ARKit facial expressions and Lipsync are listed as filterable features across the model library, meaning you can narrow the catalog to only assets that include them. These two capabilities matter most when you're driving character faces from a phone's TrueDepth camera or syncing mouth shapes to recorded dialogue.

  • ARKit facial expressions — the model's face rig maps to Apple's ARKit blend shapes, so it can be animated live from a compatible device.
  • Lipsync — mouth shapes are set up to match speech, useful for talking-character animation without hand-keying every phoneme.

Both features appear as filters on the model browsing page, and ThreeDee provides a request form if a pack you want doesn't yet include them.

Modular packs vs. standalone models

ThreeDee splits its catalog into two formats, and the choice affects how much flexibility you get:

Format What it is Best for
Modular 3D Packs Systems that combine parts into thousands or millions of variations Projects needing many distinct characters from one purchase
Single 3D Models Ready-to-use individual assets One-off scenes, quick props, specific characters

Modular packs are where the combination counts get large. Characterz, for example, is described as offering 3,000,000,000+ combinations of diverse 3D characters across multiple ethnicities and age groups, with 50,000+ pre-rendered PNG files and 3D scenes included. Illustrationz similarly lists 167,000,000+ combinations spanning adults, kids, and elders.

Customization tools and source files

Several packs ship with the tools to modify them rather than just the finished asset:

  • Blender Generator — included with Avatarz, which offers 8,000+ upper-body avatar combinations out of the box.
  • Step-by-step tutorials — Avatarz includes a tutorial on customizing avatars.
  • Blender source files — Gamerz includes them alongside its modular characters.
  • Multiple file formats — Mascotz ships with Blender, FBX, GLB, OBJ, MTL, textures, and PNG files.

This matters if your pipeline isn't Blender-only: FBX and GLB cover most game engines and web viewers, while OBJ/MTL suits simpler import needs.

Rigging and animation readiness

Packs aimed at animation and games come fully rigged:

  • Mascotz — 5 fully rigged cartoon mascots (Lion, Zebra, Bull, Wolf, Business Bull).
  • Cartoon Black Family — 4 fully rigged characters in a Disney/Pixar style, positioned for professional animation, games, and design.
  • Humanz — fully rigged female and male low-poly humans with face rig, animations, and customization options.
  • Gamerz — modular male and female characters with gameplay animations, outfits, hair, accessories, ARKit facial expressions, and Lipsync.
  • Jamez — one fully rigged, expressive cartoon character suited to business, casual, travel, fantasy, and construction scenes.

"Fully rigged" means the skeleton and controls are already set up, so you can pose or animate without building a rig yourself. Gameplay animations in Gamerz are ready to drop into a prototype.

Free and specialty assets

Not everything requires a purchase. Handz is a free library of diverse 3D hands in various gestures, with 320+ files included. It's a practical starting point if you only need hand assets or want to test ThreeDee's quality before buying a larger pack.

How to decide which pack fits

Match the pack to your output rather than to the biggest combination count:

  • Talking characters with live face capture → look for packs filtered by ARKit and Lipsync (Gamerz includes both).
  • Many distinct characters from one asset → modular packs like Characterz or Illustrationz.
  • Game prototypes → Gamerz, for its modular characters and gameplay animations.
  • Broadcast or film-style animation → Cartoon Black Family or Mascotz, both fully rigged.
  • Avatars for apps or profiles → Avatarz, with its Blender Generator and tutorial.
  • Just hands → Handz, free.

If a pack you want lacks ARKit or Lipsync, ThreeDee's request form is the route to ask for it.
