What Is temper.one? A Browser Tool for Building a Personal Web Page

Updated

temper.one is a browser-based tool that generates a single personal web page for you in a few steps: you write an intro, add your key links, adjust colors and typography, then download a free HTML file and upload it to your own hosting. It suits people who want a simple, self-hosted "about me" page with links, and who are comfortable uploading a file to a host. It is not a full site builder or a hosted publishing platform — the output is a file you place yourself.

How it works

The page describes the flow directly: introduce yourself, add your key links, customize colors and typography to match your style, then download your free HTML file and upload it to your hosting. The tool is credited to Jonas Pelzer and the generated page carries a "built with temper" note unless you turn that off.

Everything happens in the editor. You click anywhere to start, and the page is generated as you edit.

Editing the page

The editor is built around paragraphs:

  • First paragraph — this is your introduction ("This is the first paragraph. Here you could introduce yourself."). It cannot be removed.
  • Editing text — select a paragraph and start typing.
  • Adding or removing paragraphs — buttons in the bottom right corner. Removing a paragraph asks for confirmation, since all its contents are deleted.
  • Adding links — type the link text, select it, and a link button appears in the bottom right corner. The link text must be unique within that paragraph.

Link options

When you add a link you can set:

Option What it does
URL The destination address
Text The visible link label
Open in new window Opens the link in a new tab
Open in slideFrame (beta) Embeds the link in an iframe-style panel

The slideFrame option only works with external HTTPS links that allow iFrame embedding — if a site blocks embedding, it won't work there.

Settings and customization

A settings button in the top right corner opens the configuration panel, where you can:

  • Set your site's title and meta data
  • Choose text color and background
  • Pick a font
  • Set bold, italic, and font size
  • Toggle temper branding on or off
  • Download your personalized HTML file

Font choices

The font list is long and includes both generic and named typefaces. Generic options: Sans Serif, Serif, Monospace, System UI. Named options include Scope (and its Condensed/Expanded variants), Fictional, Indicate Mono (and Condensed), Balkenschrift (and Rounded), Blow, Gain, Golzheim (and Sans), Krasz, Massimo Grafia (and Semi/Mono variants), Neue Sammlung, Neue Television, Takeoff A and B, Alcea, Marblis, Chivo, Domine, EB Garamond, IBM Plex (Mono, Sans, Sans Condensed, Serif), Karla, Livvic, Montserrat, Ovo, Playfair Display, Poppins, Space Mono, Vidaloka, and Work Sans.

What you get and what you need

The output is a downloadable HTML file. To make it live you need your own hosting — temper.one does not appear to host the page for you. The page does not state pricing for the tool itself, and no payment or login requirements are mentioned in the available material, so treat access terms as unconfirmed rather than assuming it is free or account-free.

If you want a minimal personal page you fully control and can move between hosts, this workflow fits. If you want a hosted site with a dashboard, analytics, or a CMS, you would need a different kind of tool.
