What is VisualPharm?

Updated

VisualPharm is an in-house creative studio that produces custom 2D and 3D animation, interactive animation, illustrations, and icons for websites, apps, and marketing. It works in fixed-length sprints of one or two weeks rather than open-ended project timelines, and it staffs the work with salaried employees instead of freelancers. If you need a defined block of creative output on a short schedule — and you want the same team on it each cycle — this model fits. If you need a single one-off asset with no ongoing cadence, the sprint structure may be more than you need.

What VisualPharm does

The studio covers four service areas:

  • Animated 3D
  • Animated 2D
  • Interactive animation
  • Illustrations and icons

Deliverables are built for websites, apps, and marketing use. At the end of a sprint, VisualPharm hands over final files in the formats you need — for example SVG, PNG, GIF, MP4, or Lottie — ready to use.

How the sprint model works

A project runs in sprints of one or two weeks, not months. The next sprint can start immediately after the previous one ends.

Sprint Creative work included Scope Price
1 week 35 hours 2D illustrations or animations (no 3D) $4,500
2 weeks 70 hours 2D/3D illustrations or animations $8,500
Ongoing Priced by scope Embedded creative team, priority queue access, monthly strategy calls Custom pricing

The 2-week sprint is described as the same quality with more volume, and it is the tier that adds 3D. Ongoing sprints are for teams that want VisualPharm embedded on a continuing basis; those are quoted by scope rather than at a flat rate.

What you get during and after a sprint

  • During: daily updates, and you can send feedback at any time.
  • After: final files in the formats you need (SVG, PNG, GIF, MP4, Lottie).

Who it's built for

VisualPharm has made icons, interfaces, and illustrations for software companies since 2002. Named clients include Motorola, Qualcomm, P&G, HP, Verisign, and Docucorp (now part of Oracle). Other listed clients include Kofax and Dionex — each with more than 200 icons — plus Kaspersky Lab, Parallels, Squarespace, Europol, and Camfrog. In 2003 alone, the studio completed about 170 orders and more than 1,000 icons for clients in the USA, EU, and Australia.

How to decide

Choose a 1-week sprint if you need 2D illustrations, icons, or animation and want to test the working relationship at the lowest commitment. Choose a 2-week sprint if the work involves 3D or simply needs more volume at the same quality. Choose ongoing sprints if you want an embedded team with priority queue access and monthly strategy calls — note that this tier is priced by scope, so you'll need to discuss your requirements to get a number.

If your need is a single asset with no repeat cycle, or you specifically want to work directly with individual freelancers, this studio's model is not aimed at that.
