What scales and chords are available on #fretflip?

Updated

#fretflip is an online guitar fretboard tool for viewing, editing, and sharing scales and chords. Its preset library covers common scales (minor/major pentatonic, the seven modes, blues scales, and more), a range of chord types (power chords, 7th chords, shell voicings, extended chords), and multiple tunings and instruments including 7-string, 8-string, bass, and ukulele. Everything is editable, so presets are starting points rather than fixed content.

Scales available

The preset list organizes scales into groups:

  • Pentatonic and blues: Minor Pentatonic, Major Pentatonic, Minor Blues, Major Blues
  • Modes: Major / Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Minor / Aeolian, Locrian
  • Other scales: Melodic Minor, Major, Minor, Augmented, Diminished, Whole-Tone, Superlocrian / Altered, Sym. Dim. / Half-Whole, Mixolydian b6, Lydian Dominant, Phrygian Dominant
  • Shape-based views: 3NPS and CAGED-shapes, 4nps scale patterns, "Connect the pentatonics"

The interactive diagram also lets you switch the scale type directly — for example, selecting Minor Pentatonic in the key of C displays the notes C, D♭, D, E♭, E, F, F♯, G, A♭, A, B♭, B with scale degrees 1, ♭2, 2, ♭3, 3, 4, ♯4, 5, ♭6, 6, ♭7, 7.

Harmonizing Scales," "The CAGED System," and guides like "Start Soloing," "Modes and Pitch," "Modal chord progressions," "Find all Notes," and "Where do I start?" A Log In option is present, though the page does not state what account features require it.

For a quick start, open the interactive fretboard, pick a preset (e.g., Minor Pentatonic), choose your tuning and key, then edit notes directly on the diagram to build your own chart.
