Where to Follow Grant Kot’s Updates and Find Related Projects

Updated

Follow Grant Kot’s updates on X through @kotsoft and @GrantKot, both linked from grantkot.com. For related projects, play the web demos directly on grantkot.com, and download Liquid Crystal demos from his itch.io page, kotsoft.itch.io. A Liquid Layers Maker and a site for sharing creations are listed as coming soon, so they are not available yet.

Official update channels

The site does not describe a newsletter, Discord server, or other update channel. The two X accounts and the itch.io page are the only update and download routes named on the page.

Playable projects on grantkot.com

The site hosts interactive web demos rather than downloadable applications. Each project has a Play link.

Simulation and physics demos

  • Liquid Layers — a real-time interactive liquid simulator. It is mobile-friendly; on a phone or tablet, you can enable the accelerometer.
  • Pencil Physics — draw and simulate any shape. It supports multi-touch and pen input on mobile devices.
  • Tutti Space Program — a space simulator that the site says pushes WebAssembly (multithreading and SIMD) and WebGL.
  • VoxelMash — a multiplayer voxel sandbox synchronized with all visitors. A new version is in development.
  • Synthesizer — a multi-layered Web Audio synthesizer with customizable sounds, mobile-friendly.
  • Million Checkboxes — a multiplayer remake of One Million Checkboxes, originally created by Nolen Royalty (@itseieio).

2D and 3D experiments

  • 2D physics experiments — bouncing blobs with soft-body physics, polygon interactions, and sine wave patterns.
  • Tokyo 3D — a 3D point cloud viewer of Tokyo, with Points and Points + Mesh modes. The site warns that memory requirements are high, especially for Points + Mesh.
  • Liquid 3D — early-stage 3D fluid simulation tests (MPM and SPH). The site notes performance is not the best yet.

Liquid Crystal and downloadable demos

Liquid Crystal is a separate 3D voxel project. Grant Kot describes it as an attempt to push CPU and GPU limits, and says he later shifted focus to web-based simulations because he can iterate faster and reach a broader audience. Demos are available for download on kotsoft.itch.io for people with a powerful computer. The site does not list system requirements beyond that general note.

What is coming next

The site lists two upcoming items:

  • Liquid Layers Maker — Liquid Layers will be combined with other physics systems (line physics, blobs, smoke) into a combined 2D sandbox.
  • A sharing site — a separate site for sharing creations.

Neither has a release date on the page. Until they launch, the existing web demos and the itch.io downloads are the available entry points.
