Which image formats can SVGcode convert to SVG?
Updated
SVGcode accepts PNG, JPG, JPEG, WEBP, AVIF, and GIF files as input and converts them to SVG vector graphics. If your image is in one of those formats, you can use it directly; if it is in another format, convert it to one of these first.
Supported input formats
| Format | Typical file extension | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | .png | Common lossless raster format |
| JPEG | .jpg, .jpeg | Common photographic format |
| WEBP | .webp | Modern web image format |
| AVIF | .avif | Next-generation image format |
| GIF | .gif | Often used for simple graphics and animations |
The source description groups these together as "bitmap images," meaning any of them can be uploaded for conversion.
What you get as output
The result is an SVG file, a vector format. SVGcode can produce either:
- Color vector images — for full-color source images
- Monochrome vector images — for single-color output
So the choice of input format does not limit you to one output style; the color or monochrome option applies across the supported inputs.
Before you upload
Check that your file matches one of the formats above. A quick way is to look at the file extension:
.png,.jpg,.jpeg,.webp,.avif,.gif→ supported- Anything else (for example
.bmp,.tiff,.heic) → not listed as supported, so convert it to a supported format first
If you are unsure of a file's format, open its properties or details view to see the type before uploading.
Common questions
Can I convert a JPG or JPEG?
Yes. Both .jpg and .jpeg are listed as supported inputs.
Can I convert a GIF?
Yes, GIF is included in the supported input list.
Can I convert a WEBP or AVIF file?
Yes. Both WEBP and AVIF are listed among the supported bitmap inputs.
What if my image is a different format?
The source description does not list formats beyond PNG, JPG, JPEG, WEBP, AVIF, and GIF. For anything else, convert the file to one of these formats first, then run it through SVGcode.
