Which Minecraft Versions and VR Headsets Does Vivecraft Support?
Updated
Vivecraft requires the original PC Java edition of Minecraft, and it supports Minecraft 1.7.10 plus versions 1.10 through 1.20.1. For VR hardware, the best experience comes from SteamVR-compatible headsets such as the HTC Vive or Cosmos, Valve Index, Oculus Rift S, and WMR headsets. Mobile VR devices like Quest, GearVR, PSVR, Daydream, Cardboard, and Vive Focus can also run it through SteamVR emulators.
Supported Minecraft Versions
Vivecraft is built for the PC Java edition of Minecraft, not Bedrock or console versions. The supported releases are:
- 1.7.10
- 1.10 through 1.20.1
Individual download links for each version are listed on the Vivecraft Downloads page, so you can match the mod build to your installed Minecraft version.
Modding platform by version
- All standalone versions of Vivecraft include Optifine for performance and shader support.
- The Forge modding platform is supported on most standalone versions.
- Starting with Minecraft 1.18, Vivecraft is available as a Fabric and Forge compatible mixin mod.
- Server plugins are available for Spigot and Forge to enhance VR multiplayer.
Supported VR Headsets
Best experience: SteamVR-compatible hardware
Vivecraft works best in roomscale with SteamVR-compatible hardware, including:
- HTC Vive or Cosmos
- Valve Index
- Oculus Rift S
- WMR (Windows Mixed Reality) headsets
Mobile VR devices via SteamVR emulators
Vivecraft can also be played on mobile VR devices through SteamVR emulators:

Play Modes and Multiplayer
Vivecraft works in single player, LAN multi-player, and server multi-player. The NonVR Companion mod lets non-VR friends see your head and hand movements in multiplayer, and mixed reality plus undistorted desktop mirroring are supported for streamers.
